HEALTH SYSTEM SPECIALIST

1. This position is located in an Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. The purpose of this position is to assist the Senior Health System Specialist in planning, controlling,conducting, and administering the operational and medical activities with direct responsibility for assigned programs, to train and evaluate traditional Aeromedical Evacuation Specialist proficiency and competency, and provide ground and flight instruction for developing and upgrading the skills of traditional Aeromedical Evacuation Specialists. Performs a variety of duties associated with nursing services/patient care on Aeromedical Evacuation (AE) flights, and on the ground the incumbent administers AE activities and reviews and coordinates projects and activities on behalf of the Squadron Commander and the Operations Group Commander. 2. Assists in planning, controlling, directing, organizing, and implementing all medical administrative, operational, training, and personnel activities designed to ensure medical readiness of the unit. This includes, recruiting, retention, resource management, quality improvement, mobility, status and adequacy of equipment, medical readiness, disaster preparedness plans, deployments, exercises, security, safety, mass casualty, anti-terrorism,logistics, War Readiness Material (WRM), medical aircrew standardization/evaluation,supply services, public information services, vehicle control, and initiating supplements to existing regulations regarding unit requirements. 3. Maintains currency as Crew Resource Management (CRM) instructor, ensures flying personnel are trained and actively integrating CRM principles in mission activity.Documents program effectiveness (e.g., situational awareness; how crew members communicate/interact). Ensures Aeromedical Evacuation Crew Member (AECM)continuation training (Air Force Instruction AFI 11-2AE, Vol I, Ch 3) requirements necessary to maintain qualification are accomplished. Assures all AECM's meet continuation training requirements for each flight.-- Monitors, observes, and records medical crew activities prior to, during, and after in-flight missions. Briefs simulated patients on their roles during missions. Develops and implements training scenarios and determines tasks to test aircrew knowledge, skills, and abilities, to include but not limited to rapid decompression, fire, hypoxia, and/or medical problems. Evaluates and critiques aircrew performance. May be required to perform as Medical Crew Director in the absence of an in-flight nurse.-- Performs as a Charge Medical Technician or Medical Technician on large multi-engine transport aircraft during dedicated aeromedical or combined aeromedical/airlift missions.Participates in medical crew briefings and procures required equipment and/or supplies for the aeromedical mission. Coordinates aeromedical evacuation requirements with the flight crew. Configures aircraft to meet specific aeromedical evacuation mission needs.Performs pre-flight check of equipment and systems associated with the aeromedical mission. Determines aircraft configuration and directs the loading of medical patients, and briefs on emergency procedures.-- Ensures patients, equipment, and supplies are secured prior to flight. Assists the flight nurse in providing medical treatment, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, applying bandages, changing dressings, and operation of medical equipment.Exercises measures to properly secure patients, medical equipment, supplies, hand carried baggage, and any miscellaneous items in the event of an aircraft emergency.Inspects and operates medical and other life support equipment/systems, air conditioning,oxygen, lighting, intercom, and electrical systems. Directs the deplaning of patients,equipment, and supplies, and completes post-flight checks. Completes records/reports and attends mission critiques/debriefs. 4. Develops, plans, implements, and administers training, disaster response, detailed mobility plans, emergency disaster plans, operations plans for AT and field training exercises, and other similar plans. Develops, plans, implements, and administers service agreements through coordination and direct contact with external civilian and military agencies to ensure mission readiness/effectiveness. Monitors monthly Unit Training Assembly (UTA) training schedule to ensure required training is being accomplished.-- Compiles reports of deficiencies and achievements of periodic inspections of unit activities. Recommends corrective actions to Senior Health System Specialist/Squadron Commander, as appropriate, for improving unit operations. Interprets regulations and resolves administrative problems pertaining to the operation of the unit. 5. Performs other duties as assigned. Military Grades:

Experience:
All series personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level and must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in a career skill competency level immediately below the next higher level. Must have validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Have military or civilian working experiences and knowledge of the basic principles and practices related to the management of health care delivery systems. Military or civilian working knowledge is required in GS-0671 Specialized Experience Factors, Health Systems Specialist general clerical procedures; medical terminology; regulations, and directives; medical ethics; health records administration; principles of coding; and anatomy or physiology programs. Must have at least 12 months military or civilian experience at a novice competency level in one of the medical service core functions.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
